Drums workshops
As part of our initiative to expand on our cross-curricular activities, we are pleased to be in collaboration with Mr Peter Paul Galea, leader of Tribali, to organize drum workshops for our students in years 3, 4 and 5.
Tribali is one of Malta’s most popular bands and their concept is very simple, “Positive Vibes, keeping life simple and creating music and sharing it with friends and family”. This band is well known for their great music which is influenced by the different musical backgrounds of the band group, including classical, rock, reggae, flamenco and dance.
During the drum workshops, the students will experience the artistic flair of Mr Galea who will teach them the very basics on how to play the djembe. The djembe is a special kind of drum which can produce a variety of sounds, making it a most versatile drum. Towards the end of the workshop and after learning the basics, the students will have the opportunity to play together as a group. As Mr Galea puts it, drumming is a great and accessible way for different people to come together and play music.
The money collected by Mr Galea through these workshops will go towards a musical project for street kids in the Philippines.
