This year we decided to focus on the image of a spiral which reminds us of our belief that life doesn't end at the moment of death but indeed our soul continues living for eternity. In this sense, we remind ourselves that although every beginning has an end, after every end there is a new beginning.
The children were given a spiral to help them remember and celebrate the life of a deceased relative or person they know. They then decorated it and wrote down any memories they have of that person. In a later session the children participated in circle time where they discussed and shared their memories of the person.
These spirals formed part of a collage which was a large painting of a tree symbolising life. At the bottom of the tree stood Christ with his arms open wide welcoming all souls into the Kingdom of Heaven to live with Him for eternity.
At a later stage parents were also invited to take part in a Holy Mass dedicated to the souls of our loved ones.
