Here are some photos of the carnival floats made by year 5 students during the carnival week this year. The students worked in groups and had to come up with a float, which involved a theme, planning, materials to be used, colouring and decorating. The activity was done in class. During the carnival party the floats were displayed in the staff room where other students could go and see them.
We are pleased to announce that our school has won the gold award for the fourth consecutive year and retained the blue flag. This award goes to those schools who have won the gold award for 3 years in succession.
Every year each class teacher prepares activities whereby the children can learn about nature, habitats, the environment, and our relationship with it. Thus, through the Dinja Waħda activities we are tapping into our students inner attraction for nature and as a result we are trying to develop it into a sense of responsibility towards the natural world. This year’s award was held at the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta on Tuesday, 6th of November and was hosted by the President of Malta H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca. Two of our students, Khloe Borg Pace and Luca Rizzo accompanied by our assistant head of school Ms Valerie Scerri attended this event to receive the award on the school’s behalf. On Friday 19th October our school showed support for the Pink October campaign which raises awareness of breast cancer during the month of October. All staff and students wore a pink item of clothing or accessory. The students and staff also helped to raise funds by donating to 'Action for Breast Cancer', which is a local organisation that works hard lobbying for better services and treatment for breast cancer patients.
