This year, our school has chosen to promote the love of reading for pleasure by participating in Reading Week. This activity was held between the 2nd and 6th March. During this week, children participated in various activities related to reading, books and stories.
ICT -Searching the pages of our book for words beginning with a particular letter and later programming Beebot to travel towards the chosen letter.
Drama - Using language to imagine and recreate roles and experiences. Exploring familiar themes and characters through improvisation and role-play. Book - The Gruffalo
Year 1 - Introduction to storytelling before bedtime and exploring the story of the Three Little Pigs
Year 2 - Developing ideas for a story by making a story web. Storytelling with a big book. Musical books activity to encourage children to read different kinds of books.
Year 3 - Students learning about different genres of books and learning how to express their feelings about their favourite book.
Year 4 - Learning to design a cover and choose an interesting title for a book. Understanding the importance of the cover and title of the story.
Year 5 - Exploring the importance of book cover design and title.
Year 6 - Guessing the title of a book after reading a story; appreciating that different people may evaluate the same situation/ experience from different perspectives; discovering the importance of a book cover design and title.
