Swimming sessions
The Department for Curriculum Management has included ‘swimming’ in the revised PE syllabus which was updated April 2013.
This syllabus states that, ‘Each of the areas in the PE curriculum needs to enrich the experience of each student as a multilateral education is presented. The student has much to gain from practising different activities and sports.’ (p.2)
Thus, as part of our initiative to promote physical activity within our school, we are collaborating with the Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport to offer swimming based activities to our primary students as part of our P.E. program. This scholastic year, each of our students will get the opportunity to attend between 2 to 4 swimming sessions at the National Pool Complex, Tal-Qroqq. All activities will be geared towards giving our students the opportunity to experience swimming as a sport.
All sessions are being delivered by qualified coaches employed by the Kunsill Malti ghall-Isport, who have a vast experience in the field. Through this initiative that we have launched this scholastic year, we aim to give our students a special learning experience based on the teaching of skills that are age and level appropriate. Moreover, by offering between two to four sessions per child we will be ensuring progression towards the acquisition of skills.
